Dialogue

Dialogue is at the heart of this project. East/West is not only a place to present ideas, but a place to encounter them carefully across traditions, disciplines, and lived experience.

The Sacred

We explore diverse approaches to the sacred across Eastern and Western traditions, including questions of ritual, devotion, transcendence, community, and the nature of the soul. Rather than assuming a single way of naming or meeting the divine, we look at how different traditions imagine and experience the sacred.

The Scientific

We consider how scientific inquiry in both Eastern and Western contexts has shaped understandings of matter, mind, and the cosmos, and how these approaches interact with older metaphysical and contemplative traditions. We are interested in both shared questions and the different assumptions that guide scientific exploration in various cultures

The Philosophical

We examine how Eastern and Western philosophical traditions ask about meaning, ethics, personhood, knowledge, and reality. Bringing these lineages into dialogue allows us to see where their insights converge, where they differ, and how each can illuminate the limits and possibilities of the other.

Why Dialogue Matters

Good dialogue does not erase difference. It makes difference more intelligible, less threatening, and more fruitful. By creating space for careful listening and honest inquiry, East/West encourages a form of engagement that can deepen understanding without requiring agreement.
